More Opportunities to Build Wealth in Colombia: FNA Strengthens Its Program for Colombians Abroad

  • Between January and May 2026, Colombia received USD 5.638 billion in remittances, 5.9% more than during the same period in 2025, according to the Banco de la República. A significant portion of these resources is allocated to housing projects, making them one of the main avenues for building wealth in the country.

Bogotá, D.C., Tuesday, July 21, 2026. — In response to this scenario, the National Savings Fund (FNA) is strengthening its Colombians Living Abroad program, with the aim of facilitating financing solutions that allow Colombians overseas to purchase a home, build on their own lot, access housing leasing, or improve their homes in Colombia.

“Today more than ever, remittances represent a real opportunity to transform the efforts of Colombians living abroad into homeownership and wealth for their families. At the National Savings Fund, we are making financing solutions more accessible so that distance is not an obstacle, but rather an opportunity to invest in Colombia,” said FNA President Laura Milena Roa Zeidán.

Through the program, Colombians can enroll through Voluntary Contractual Savings, advance their process with specialized support, and manage procedures from abroad through digital channels. Key benefits include the possibility of applying for a loan without a co-signer, obtaining approval without a legal representative (required only for the legalization process and signing of deeds), and making early full or partial payments without penalties.

The portfolio includes alternatives such as mortgage loans, housing leasing, construction on owned land, and home improvement financing, according to each member’s financial capacity.

Currently, the program benefits Colombians in 71 countries, who can validate income earned abroad, make contributions and payments from their country of residence, and begin their process either with advisory support or independently.

In addition to boosting the economy, remittances make it possible to transform years of work into wealth with stability and long-term prospects. In this regard, the FNA continues to expand its service channels and strengthen its offerings for Colombians living outside the country.
